Zhuo Yang

Associate Professor, East China University of Political Science and Law

Zhuo Yang, with a Ph.D. in Philosophy and a post-doctoral degree in Law, is an Erasmus Mundus International Exchange Visiting Scholar. She is currently serving as an Associate Professor at the School of Foreign Languages, East China University of Political Science and Law, as well as a part-time researcher for the “Global China Program” in New York University Shanghai. She has also undertaken academic studies and visits in institutions including Pompeu Fabra University in Spain, Victoria University (Australia), Hong Kong Baptist University, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Portland State University in the United States, University College London in the United Kingdom, and New York University Shanghai. Yang is now independently leading the 2021 National Social Science Fund project and the 2019 Ministry of Education Social Science Youth Fund project. She also offers courses such as “Legal Translation Research”, “Theory and Practice of Legal Translation” and “Intelligent Manufacturing in China and Technical Writing”.

    Chinese cultural and tourism products, aimed at promoting excellent Chinese culture and tourism resources, emphasize the integration of traditional culture with modern civilization and the combination of virtual and real experiences. These products encompass a variety of physical goods such as cultural games, traditional clothing, toys, and household items in the light industry sector, as well as virtual products including electronic games and multimedia videos. More modern products combine virtual and real elements, such as smart tourism featuring immersive experiences in new spaces. Leveraging tourism attractions, industrial heritage sites, museums, and other venues, these products use digital technologies like augmented reality and virtual reality to integrate cultural creativity, enabling visitors to deeply engage and interact. Take new e-commerce as an example. It often orients its application towards innovative use of new technologies, leveraging advancements in 5G, big data, IoT, AI, blockchain, and other digital technologies for integrated innovation, aiming for better user experience.The plethora of new cultural and tourism products and emerging consumption scenarios require us to focus on consumer experiences and enhance product quality. Therefore, accurate and professional product descriptions and promotions become crucial. Addressing the pain points and shortcomings encountered by Chinese cultural and tourism products in the market, this speech takes the product manual of a traditional cultural board game as a case study. Following the guidelines of the Technical Communication Service Committee of China Association for Standardization, this speech diagnoses issues with the manual and improves it based on the industry and commercial experience of professional technical writers.
